Today we’d like to introduce you to Ebony Porter-Ike.
Hi Ebony, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory. I started working in the publicity field over 20 years ago while still employed at my corporate job. In 2013, I left my 9-5 and started my Agency in 2013. Our agency began with humble beginnings. We started off our agency with smaller clients that wanted to expand their visibility but did not have large budgets. Over the years, our client base grew and we created a niche in the market. While many of our competitors focused on celebrity clients, we began to focus on the small business owner and influencer market. Over the years, our roster has grown to athletes, celebrities, small business owners, professionals, civil rights icons, nonprofits and fortune 100 companies.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road? No, our journey has not been smooth. Since I migrated from Corporate America into publicity, many of the required relationships had not fully been developed at the time that I started my agency. We struggled along the way with developing brand recognition, relationships with the media contacts. However, with dedication, time, and consistency we were able to develop a strong brand, great relationships, and an extensive contact list.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others? We are a global PR, Marketing, and Branding Agency. We are focused on expanding our client’s visibility and brand awareness while increasing their ROI. Our approach to each client is customized and developed to meet the needs and goals described during the onboarding process.
Our headquarters is in Marietta, GA, but we service clients globally. Our success for our clients is not regionally based, as we have developed strong relationships across the world. Our agency specializes in strong PR and Marketing campaigns that directly speak to our client’s target audience. We also are known in the industry for Crisis Management.
Our agency offers a multitude of services, which include: Public Relations, Marketing, Crisis Management, Social Media, Graphics, and Event Logistics.
I am most proud of the growth that our agency has experienced since inception. The market widely accepted us and our services and we continue to grow each year. Initially, I started epiMediaGroup with myself, and for the first formative years, we operated with only three staff members, now our team consists of over 12 team members. We continue to grow and look for great talent to join our team.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts. I am definitely a risk taker. I believe that every GREAT THING is hidden behind your greatest RISK. My mindset is that you will never lose, you will ALWAYS LEARN. Therefore, it removes any fear that may be associated with BIG RISKS. I associate risk with growth and un-comfortability. If I am too comfortable, then I am not growing therefore, I become restless.
